La tonada diabólica

Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770)
Sonata in G minor, 'Il trillo del diavolo'
the devil's trill is named that way because Tartini said it was inspired by a dream he had, where the devil was playing the violin for him. The music he played was the most beautiful piece Tartini had ever heard, and when he woke up after that dream he tried to write it down. It's considered to be the best piece by Tartini, but he claims it's nowhere near as beautiful as the music the devil was playing.
